Saving Americans trillions!

Let’s save the country trillions of dollars! How you ask? By adopting a vegan diet. Here’s why.

Diet is the number one risk factor for the disease and disability burden in the United States, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association. That’s number one! According to cardiologist Dean Ornish, “More than 75% …of the annual U.S. healthcare costs (mostly sick-care costs) are from chronic diseases, which can often be prevented and even reversed by eating a plant-based diet, at a fraction of the costs – and the only side-effects are good ones.”

Confirming this statement, we’ve written a number of published articles and several books that show how a plant-based diet reduces the risk and is an effective treatment for many chronic diseases.

In 2020 America spent $4.1 trillion on health care, which is almost 20% of the Gross Domestic Product. That’s a lot of money! So if we could reduce that by 75%, we would save over $3 trillion.

While there’s currently a lot of attention to the pandemic, let’s not lose sight of meeting the country’s general health care costs, especially once COVID is brought under control. A Mutual of Omaha study determined that for every dollar spent on treating a patient with a plant-based diet, there was an immediate savings of $5.55. With health care costs spiraling out of control, this sounds like a really good investment. Plant-based diets are the answer to so many of the country’s problems.
