Three actors you might not know are vegan

Thandie Newton

British actress, Melanie Thandiwe Newton, (often known as Thandie Newton) is known for starring roles movies such as Beloved, Mission: Impossible 2, and Line of Duty. She was born in London, the daughter of a Zimbabwean mother and English father.

She is one of many vegan celebrities who count Woody Harrelson as their inspiration for going vegan.  In 2017/18 she worked with him on the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, and she said that she enjoyed having a vegan on the set, in a position of power.  “I have been vegan since working with Woody,” she revealed.

Peter Dinklage

American actor, Peter Dinklage, is well-known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the HBO television series, Game of Thrones, although he has starred in many other movies and on stage. He has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series four times for this role.

Dinklage has been a vegetarian since the age of 16, and became vegan in 2014.  He is a staunch advocate for animal rights.  He supports Farm Sanctuary and has served as the spokesman for the organization’s Walk for Farm Animals.  He also narrated the video Face your Food, a film on behalf of PETA, advocating for a vegan diet on ethical grounds.

Madelaine Petsch

American actress Madelaine Petsch is best known for portraying Cheryl Blossom in the TV series Riverdale. She was born in Port Orchard in 1994, here in Washington State, and attended the Tacoma School of the Arts before relocating to Los Angeles after graduating. Petsch was raised as a vegetarian, and switched to being vegan at age 14. She has been speaking out as a vegan since 2014, and is an advocate for making the lifestyle seem fun, easy and approachable.  “People make it seem like it’s so difficult. I want to teach people how positive and easy it is to be vegan—I don’t want to make it seem like it’s this big feat,” she told Elle in 2020.
