Heart disease is still the number one cause of death for both men and women. But, it doesn’t have to be that way. A plant-based diet can reduce your risk of a heart attack by 40%. If you wish your doctor knew about this, we want you to know that we do too! That’s why we wrote a letter to the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. They published an Expert Consensus Decision Pathway on the role of non-statin therapies for lowering LDL Cholesterol, but they “forgot” to include the plant-based diet!  We told them about their omission, and we published it as an open letter, complete with references to all the latest research on the topic. Old man forgettingMore and more people worry about getting Alzheimer’s disease and losing their memory. They wonder what’s the best way of preventing it?

They have good reason to worry. There are currently about 5 million people in the US with Alzheimer’s, and it claims the lives of 500,000 people each year. Here in Washington there are about 100,000 people with the disease. Women outnumber men with Alzheimer’s almost 2 to 1.

Alzheimer’s is a disease that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, eventually becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks. Read more
