Vegetarian diets are catching on in Poland! A new opinion poll suggests that more Poles, particularly women, are giving up eating meat and becoming vegetarian. The poll by the Homo Homini Institute found that 3.2 percent of Poles, traditionally big meat eaters, describe themselves as vegetarians. The pollsters found that 1.6 percent do not eat meat while another 1.6 percent are vegans. The growth in turning away from pork chops and chicken shows “an ever-greater empathy for animals among Poles, and increasing awareness of the importance of healthy eating,” said nutritionist Małgorzata Chylewska.
